Continuing the “pillow-less” visit! Mom asking for dad was a joy. That is something she never does anymore. Saying our names or even close to our names is gone. It was a pleasure to see her asking for him and talking about going to her house. With my failed attempts at getting mom to sit in the dining hall area, we moved outside. She sat there quite comfortably so I am still confused as to the standing in the dining room. Its clear in this video that mom had “left.” The smile I got from her when I first arrived was the closest I got to seeing mom that day. I don’t know if it was over stimulation or her meds kicking in or what. But she was very fuzzy and into her own mind I think. The way she loved on the cat was odd and new. I’m not sure what to make of that at all. Mom wasn’t in her room or the main area when I arrived but was in somone else’s room. I think that person was experiencing sundowners. Not entirely sure. Dementia is so cruel. Thankful that mom, for now, is not agitated or upset or overly confused. Remembering me is never the issue. But when she asks me about my mother, I try to see if I can help her get to who I am. Most days she gets there. In fact not long after this interaction she told two men that I was “Lorri, her daughter” - so its there…it just gets away from her sometimes. #dementia #alzheimer #memorycare #momsoftiktok #dementiapatients #memorycareunit
