Meet some of our amazing team at the bakery, Ryan and Emmanuel! Did you know that we are not just a café but actually a social enterprise? Mychal’s Café is a part of Mychal’s Learning Place, a nonprofit that teaches young adults with developmental disabilities life skills and job skills. Our café, bakery and print shop were created to help provide job training and employment. October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month and Down Syndrome Awareness Month! ⁠ ⁠ People with developmental disabilities face a high unemployment rate. When we launched our Path to Independence program at Mychal’s Learning Place, we faced challenges finding employment for our participants, which inspired us to create our first social enterprise: Mychal’s Bakery.
