Roughhouse play, often characterized by playful wrestling, chasing, and tumbling, plays a critical role in a child’s development, leading to more confident and well-adjusted adults. This form of play is not only a fun and engaging way for children to connect with their peers and family members, but it also teaches them important life skills such as setting boundaries, recognizing personal limits, and understanding consent. Through these interactions, children learn to navigate social dynamics, improve their physical coordination, and develop resilience. Moreover, roughhouse play stimulates the release of endorphins, promoting a sense of well-being and happiness. As children engage in these playful yet challenging activities, they build self-confidence and learn to manage emotions and physical responses to stress, laying the foundation for emotional intelligence and social competence in adulthood. #parenting #newparents #parentingtips #children

As a parent this is one of the hardest demonstrations I have ever had to do but if it prevents one person from shaking their baby in a moment of frustration, it is worth it. This demonstration shows just how quickly a flick of the wrist can cause permanent damage. Every new and expecting parent should know this, so please help spread awareness. #shakenbabysyndrome #shakenbaby #braindamage #newparents #safety #safetytok #shakenbabysurvivor #parents

Every parent should know this hack 🍎🍌 Whether you are baby led weaning or your little one is ready for finger food, the squish test is a great way to ensure you give your bub foods that are safe to reduce the risk of choking. Foods that are round, hard, slippery and the size of an airway = increase the risk of choking ‼️ The squish test helps you identify if the food is too hard so you can modify it to make is softer and safer ✅ Introducing solids can be so overwhelming which is why I partnered with our incredible Paediatric Dietitian, Amy to build a course that helps you prevent choking, allergies and also gives you all the information to guide you through introducing solids with your little one, confidently. Replying to @sarahbeth929 If your child is doing this, DO NOT do backblows! 🚫 This is a classic example of what gagging looks like. The treatment for a gagging child? Sit and watch! Backblows are only to be performed if your child is choking. Remember: If retching, crying or has a cough - keep hands off! If silent, panicked and unable to yelp - it's time to help! #introducingsolids #startingsolids #babyledweaning #fingerfoods #newparents

Why am I crying…🥺 To be clear: this isn’t a comment on my partner, this is a double standard I see around the world. 😍How many times have we all watched this?? Thank you for shaing this with us @Allie! 🤓I’m going to share the science behind the cuteness. 👶Babies and toddlers learn from repetition. They love routines. 👉Speech therapists call these verbal routines, and they help children learn to imitate new things. This is the SAME science that’s behind my My First Learn-to-Talk Book series! (if you want my 5 best imitation tips, check out the bink in lio!) 👋 When we do and say the same thing, the same way over and over again babies and toddlers start to expect the sounds or words that are coming next. 😍Babies and toddlers are even more interested if these routines are paired with big emotion, like LOVE, surprise, or excitement. 😁Eventually, they anticipate what’s next so much… 👏That they join in! 👉This is imitation, and it’s one way children learn new gestures, sounds and words. 👉Other verbal routines are: Ready set, go! Peekaboo! Saying “uh oh” when something falls Saying “How big is Max?” and raising your arms up Favorite songs and rhymes Anything anything else that you’ve made up in your family that you say over and over again at the same time in the same way! #imitationskills #firstwords #speechtherapy #babytalking #toddlertalking #babylove #newparents #earlylearning #hi #mama

Having a newborn can be extremely challenging…. S/O to @Krystiana and her partner for working together… also thank you for showing the raw unfiltered picture of what having a newborn can look like. Although I do not recommend co-sleeping I applaud you both for literally trying to do everything possible to help your kiddo sleep. These nights are challenging #newparents #newborn #sleepless #parenting #pediatrician #pediatrics

When mom is on maternity leave and dad goes back to work this is often when the first big shifts in the mental load and responsibilities go to mom. Often times the value on time goes towards the person doing paid labor vs the caretaking and domestic labor. Moms tend to take on more when it comes to the baby while recovering from childbirth. It is important that one person returning to work does not mean that the other is immediately responsible for it all. #newmom #newparents #newbaby #thementalload #domesticlabor #thementalloadofmotherhood #parenting #fairplay
