I’m testing out watercolor paper from @grabieofficial to see how much gouache it can take! The paper is very thick and performed extremely well. I used a lot of water for this painting and it didnt buckle the paper at all. I’m also using cheap blue painters tape to see if it will tear the paper when I peel it away and my line was clean with no damage! When I run out if the free sample that grabie gave me, I will be buying more. Replying to @theyearofsayingno My first impressions of the Yupo paper that @Legion Paper sent me. Even though this looks like watercolor paper, it is really different and takes a bit if getting used to. As a matter of fact I'm still getting to know it. Yupo paper is most commonly seen with alcohol inks, but can be used for watercolor and acrylic paint as well. The ability to wipe it off is intriguing but a little scary. Thankfully when the watercolor is dry if you touch it it stays, but with more water it just wipes right off. We'll have to see how the bigger project goes ... Replying to @oopseedaisee alcohol markers are powerful stuff! I am far from an expert on alcohol inks or markers, but I did a bit of googling on why this happens. It's above my pay grade and from what I can understand it has to do with the shapes of the alcohol molecules and how they hold less surface tension than water...🧪👨‍🔬👩‍🔬🧑‍🔬⚗️ any scientists on here please sound off in the comments so we can better understand why pretty much no paper is immune to the bleeding effects of alcohol based inks. I think the best option is specialty paper...or to just use what paper you have, but you'll only be able to use one side and it's a good idea to put a barrier between pages. The sketchbook in this video is the one I sell and it's 140lb cold pressed cotton paper. p.s. I just cleaned up my studio and found some old alcohol marker sketches that are pretty funny, let me know if you want to see them. #alcoholmarkers #watercolorpaper #artsupplies

Honest review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I wanted to like the hot press paper more because @Legion Paper was so kind to send me generous samples, but so far I love their cold press paper more. However, I’m not done testing their hot press paper. I want to try different brands of watercolor on it and also test some graphite watercolor pencils on it. The smooth surface may be perfect for tiny graphite pencil details. With more practice, I may change my mind. Thank you Legion ❤️. I was skeptical about these but you know I love a little landscape and these were the perfect size. My first impression is that these are good quality and pretty economical especially with the coupons that you can often use on TT shop. They were able to handle a bit of water without warping, and the pigment was able to blend out softly, which is what I look for in a paper. I love the size and rounded corners. I did tear it a bit when I pulled off my tape, and the texture is smoother than I am used to, but that’s just me. I’ll be using these for sure. #grabiewatercolors #watercolorpaper
