A stretch that your neck will love! The levator scapulae, upper trapezius, paraspinals, and suboccipitals will be getting stretched with this lovely maneuver. With the above stretch, it is important to remember to do it gently. There is no need to crank your head down - that can result in more guarding. Stretches on their own are often not the solution to eliminating the pain forever. In some instances, doing a single stretch can resolve the issue for a long time, however, for a majority of people a stretch offers temporary relief (a few minutes, a few hours, or a day), then the tightness comes back. This stretch can be helpful for providing you with some relief while you are working, driving for long periods, or to allow you to do the things that will ultimately make the biggest difference - strengthen and move. Often, if we feel that a muscle is tight, we immediately try to stretch it. We find ourselves doing this for weeks or months without long-term relief. If this sounds like you, then it is time to work on strengthening the muscles instead. “But won’t strengthening a muscle make it tighter!??!?!” No. “Tightness” is most often a neurological response and usually a result of weakness around the joint. The body senses that you don’t have much strength around the joint and can respond by increasing the stretch reflex and “locking things down.” This creates the sensation of tightness. Sitting tall, reaching the top of your head to the ceiling, and gently pressing your hand into the front, sides, and back of your head while resisting movement is a great and safe place to start strengthening. Hold this for 5-30 seconds in each direction. Isometric exercises are generally a great place to start when there is pain. Doing this simple move each day can be a quick way to offer long-term neck pain relief. #neckstretch #necktightness #neckflexibility #traptightness #tighttrap #neckmobility #neckstrength #headache #neckpain #neckache #cervicalpain #levatorscapulae #trapezius #paraspinals #heds #eds #hypermobility

Stretching your neck regularly can help reduce neck lines and wrinkles by improving blood circulation and promoting better skin elasticity. Additionally, stretching exercises can alleviate tension in the neck muscles, preventing the formation of deep wrinkles caused by habitual poor posture. Incorporating neck stretches into your daily routine can contribute to a smoother, more youthful-looking neck over time. #neckstretch #facialexercise #trinhgeorg

I understand that some of this info is on a very basic level, so if you’re looking for more depth, feel free to DM me or drop your thoughts here on this post as I’m trying my best to increase my replying ability😅 try me lol When you’re dealing with acute neck pain, it can sometimes seem that every single movement is painful, and so the next idea you may have is to not move at all. 👈not the best idea. You want to find movements that feel fine and do them every hour, maybe just 10-20 back and forth. The angular pattern relates to the biomechanics of the neck or cervical region. If there is an issue with the joints themselves, or the nerves getting pinched, we typically want to free up these structures by implementing mechanical patterns that allow for the most ease of movement. So the patterns I’m demoing here are an excellent option. Even if you’re feeling a bit stiff but not exactly pain, these can help. Cranking on the head to force a muscle stretch could irritate things a lot more. Some neck stretches have their place, don’t get me wrong. I’ve certainly shown plenty on this page. But what I’m saying is, when it comes to the neck, find movements that you CAN do, do them more, and feel your body take care of itself. Need more on this? ⬇️ #neckpain #neckpainrelief #neckpaintreatment #stiffneck #neckstretch

3 reasons @andrewhuberman says train your neck! 👇🏾 📝 Andrew Huberman emphasizes the importance of neck training for both physical health and cognitive function. He suggests that training the neck muscles can have several benefits: 1️⃣ Enhanced Brain Health: Huberman highlights the connection between the neck muscles and the brain, particularly the vestibular system, which contributes to balance and spatial orientation. Strengthening the neck can improve signals sent to the brain, promoting better overall brain health and cognitive function. 2️⃣ Improved Posture and Stress Reduction: By strengthening the neck muscles, Huberman suggests that individuals can improve their posture and reduce tension in the neck and shoulders. This can help alleviate stress and discomfort associated with poor posture, ultimately leading to better physical and mental well-being. 3️⃣ Reduced Risk of Concussion and Head Injuries: Huberman discusses how a stronger neck can provide better support and stability for the head, reducing the risk of concussion and head injuries, especially in contact sports or activities with a high risk of impact. Overall, Huberman advocates for incorporating neck training exercises into one’s fitness routine to promote overall health and well-being, both physically and cognitively. #neckmobility #neckpain #neckpainrelief #mobility #neckstrength #neckinjury #yoga #thoracicmobility #physicaltherapy #neckstretch #spinemobility #injuryprevention #movementculture #backpain #yogastrong #onlineyogacourse #yogaclassesonline #anatomynerd #onlineyogaclasses #mobilityclasses #movementlogic #practiceyoga #movementlogictutorials #yogateacher #movementtherapy #yogatherapy #fitspo #biomechanics #neckstretches #pilatesinstructor
