A fantastic exhibition of historical clothes called »Worn Stories« in the Stedelijk Museum of Breda was the reason for our group of the “Kuckucksvoegel” to travel to the Netherlands! 🇳🇱 Curator Amanda Elshout explained in detail how the garments on display relate to the late inhabitants of Breda which portraits can be seen right behind the exhibits. Not only was the way the exhibition was curated deeply insightful - to be able to get pretty close to the historical clothes without visual barriers or protective glass made it very exiting to study their structure for our group of historical fashion enthusiasts 😍 Thank you for this insightful and fun time at the museum! i did this project over just a couple hours in the morning before i started my work day (making pinafores !) and it all went by fairly quickly so it’s been so fun to spread this out over the week and share the whole process in a big fuss, and get to be excited about it again with everyone ! i left the bottom edge unfinished (just not zigzagged) so if anything needed to be trimmed, i could take the boning out and file them shorter. but now that’s finished, as well as trimming everything up so it’s a little more refined. i need to hunt down some nice slippery and fine lacing to do this up and go under the bodice. since the corset laces all the way closed, slippery lacing will make that a little easier. oh and also, i re-recorded this voiceover like 20 times, literally. and this is the best i could get out so we are just going to live with it. don’t forget to go back and watch all the earlier parts and to stick around to see the rest of the projects finished! i’ve got shoes and ribbons to dye, the bodice fabric to dye, the bodice itself to make and fairy wings! plus the actual ren faire adventure itself ! #historicalfashion #historicalcostume #renfaire #cottagecore #corset
