I thought this coparenting thing would get easier with time and in some ways it has. However it just gets harder and harder to say “see you later” at each exchange and dealing with my own emotions. I’m in a stage right now where I’m trying to let my emotions coexist and it’s hard. It’s hard feeling so grateful for coparenting and angry about it all at the same time. It’s hard enjoying the time I get without them to work and recharge while simultaneously feeling guilty for feeling like I’m missing out on half of their childhood. I often get the “well you chose this life” comments on social media and yes, I did choose “this life”. I chose for my children to grow up in two happy homes instead of one with turmoil. I chose to give my children a life they deserved while sacrificing my own motherhood experience, because as a mother that’s what we do. Everything we do is for them. Allowing myself feel ALL of my emotions today.
