The number on the tag does. not. matter and is not tied to your self worth, beauty or value. PERIOD. Just like your everyday clothes, size charts vary by designer - and yes…these sizes are truly the size we would order based on Marilyn Monroe’s measurements. But why? We have a blog linked in our bio that goes WAY more into this topic (and I encourage you to read it) but, let’s start with… Vanity sizing emerged in the 1970’s - it basically made it so the same measurements had a smaller number on the tag. Marilyn Monroe’s supposed size of 16 was based on her size BEFORE vanity sizing was a thing. Each of these designers create their gowns and size charts differently - so when you come in and shop for a wedding dress, you can assume that you’ll be about 2 sizes larger than your everyday clothes (don’t freak out) and that you’ll vary between designers.
