Replying to @Sally Smith If you choose to dry your diaper shells in the dryer, remember to use the low or no heat setting. The waterproofing material on the inside of most cloth diapers is heat bonded to the diaper cover. Reapplying high levels of heat in the dryer can cause this waterproofing layer to pull away from the fabric. Which is obvi not good. Cloth diaper fit checks you can do on your own to make sure you have the perfect fit every time. 1. The reusable diaper should sit below the belly button, but above the thigh. If the diaper is sitting too high or too low, adjust the rise snaps to change the length of the diaper. 2. Rest the diaper in the natural underwear line, not the leg creases. If you’re having trouble getting the diaper into the leg creases, cup the diaper like a taco in your hand and push those elastics up into the underwear line. If you’re having trouble getting the diaper into the natural underwear line, it’s possible that it might be “overstuffed”. 3 . Fit 2-3 fingers comfortably at the tummy (like a dog collar). It’s okay and actually preferred to have some gapping at the tummy. As long as the diaper fits snug along the back elastic, a tummy gap is ok. 4. Cover the bum crack. I think this one is self explanatory. An exposed bum crack is a path for poo to escape. 5. No gapping at the leg! Leg gaps are caused by too loose of a rise on the diaper. To fix leg gapping, adjust the length of the diaper using the rise snaps. #clothdiaper #clothdiaperfitcheck #fitcheck #baby #toddler #diaepring #diaperhelp #clothdiaperhelp #clothdiaper101 #reusables #reusablebabyproducts #babymusthave #favbabyproducts #kindercloth Side note: How is this tiny baby almost two? 😭😭😭

Throwback to our early days on here. We don't carry microfiber inserts, because in our experience they just don't set families up for success. Cloth diapers need to do more than just soak up liquids quickly. They need to hold on to liquids, they need to be able to hold a full bladder worth of liquids and they need to be able to be cleaned easily in a home washing machine. Here are the reasons that I don't recommend messing around with microfiber based diaper inserts. 1. Microfiber is incredibly prone to compression leaks. It acts like a giant sponge and sucks up liquids fast, but as soon as any pressure is applied, it releases those liquids just as quickly. Families that use microfiber tend to have a lot of leaks in car seats, while sleeping and… just generally when baby is putting pressure on their bottom. These compression leaks will become more frequent as baby grows and gets heavier. 2. Microfiber doesn't hold a lot of liquids when compared to other common insert materials. This means as baby grows and produces more urine, they're going to produce more than their insert can hold and it's going to lead to more … you guess it, leaks. 3. Microfiber is super bulky. It's ironic that the insert fiber that holds the least amount of fluids would be the thickest and bulkiest of babies bum. A bulky diaper is cute, until you need like four microfiber insert for your toddler — then you just feel crazy. 4. Microfiber holds on to odors. The synthetic fibers trap urine smells and you'll more than likely find yourself stripping your diapers more frequently than families that use natural fibers like cotton, bamboo or hemp. 5. Microfiber cannot be placed directly against baby's skin. The material is super absorbent and will pull moisture from baby's skin causing rashes and skin irritation. This means you'll need to stuff any and all microfiber inserts in the pocket of your baby's cloth diaper. When using natural fiber inserts, you'll have the option to stuff in the pocket or simply place inside the shell on top of the lining. What do you think about microfiber inserts? Do you love them or hate them? #kindercloth #clothdiapers #clothdiapertiktok #reusabes
