I think it's really insensitive to comment things to survivors like "I would rather 💀 than relive my trauma." or "I would rather be murdered than relive my trauma." firstly, I understand, secondly, I WOULD rather relive it, if it meant I got to be where I'm at now. I have dreams sacrificing myself in order to protect my siblings and I wake up sobbing if I fail. I want people to understand that there's a difference between my engagement in fictional paraphilias and reliving my trauma. My interests in fiction is NOT relapsing. I find it absolutely offensive, cause it suggests I'm wanting to return to the abuse or that I'm harming myself, when that is NOT the case. although it's a complex topic, I would assume it would be common sense that fictional abuse ≠ real abuse. One is a controlled environment with no consequences or harm, the other is something I had absolutely no control over, WAS harmed by and STILL suffer from. When I was assaulted, I felt a strong sense of anxiety and fear that completely took over my mind and body. it was a confusing and terrifying experience that left me feeling like I lost control and was no longer normal. conversely, the fictional ships and scenarios, are safe for me to regain control and direct in my imagination, which is a completely different experience from the actual abuse inflicted on me. getting to share it online in a community that understands my personal needs and coping mechanisms w/ others of similar struggles as myself, brings back that normalcy I feel I'm missing. To tell me I shouldn't be able to do that would be equivalent to silencing me. My abuser silenced my voice, and now that I have it back, you're trying to do the same. if you feel the need to belittle me as a CSA survivor yourself in order to feel some sort of moral superiority over another CSA survivor, that tells me your either looking for validation from others, or trying to validate something within yourself. your allowed to feel uncomfortable about my art or my fictional engagement, but you take it a step too far choosing to react to that discomfort in order to shame and gaslight me over something you could easily walk away from. If you can see that I'm clearly going to disagree with your stance on fiction, you should be able to concur that interacting with me would be futile, and a waste of your time and energy and it would be best you just ignore me or block. ‼️You hurt CSA survivors by not learning about other survivors outside of yourself and your own experiences. in reality, there are many ways experiences and circumstances can differ, and it's crucial to keep an open mind and learn about the different ways people experience trauma. ‼️It's also VERY important to keep in mind that although there are a variety of different sources on the Internet and social media, you should ALWAYS verify and cross reference information before taking it as fact. Abusive behavior is prominent in Anti-shipping communities. . Anti-shippers often exhibit toxic and abusive behaviors, and are discriminatory, exclusionary, unfair, and oppressive and re-victimizing towards pro-ship survivors of CSA. Their beliefs and perspectives create an atmosphere of exclusion and marginalization in fandom spaces that causes harm to CSA survivors who do not cope in the ways that anti-shippers see as "morally acceptable." Anti-shipping beliefs directly support and encourage the abuse of (proship) CSA survivors, even going so far as to write out detailed and gruesome scenarios about their abuse or murder that they would like to see inflicted on these survivors. Along with openly fantasizing about their abuser abusing them again and enjoying it.💀 . Even if you aren't currently behaving in the same way as some individuals in anti-shipping community, identifying as an anti-shipper aligns with the beliefs and behaviors of those people. ‼️I happened to stumble upon this looking for research, and this is honestly concerning. This basically touches on the potential future of fandom based on the behavior and rhetoric of antis. . ‼️And in my opinion, anti rhetoric is starting to look very much alike to the rhetoric people use to dehumanize and discriminate against people outside/inside of the US. ‼️I can't help but notice that, as my fyp alternates between art, fandom and anime to Palestine, congo, and others. The increase of aggression in fandom spaces could be due to the fact anti-shippers have trouble with neuroticism. it may not conclude ALL anti-shippers, but, a huge chunk of the community display similar symptoms and behaviors associated with this. As for the fiction affects reality situation I've come up on research that supports the evaluation and discussion of fictional topics (both emotionally provoking and impactful) participants benefited MORE choosing a fictional text rather than being PRESCRIBED the fictional text, supporting the idea I have that proshippers would benefit more engaging in fiction they prefer rather than what antis push (which is "pure","wholesome","normal" content) It is shown that forcing a text on participants had negative impacts on their well-being and study 4&5 go into details such as evaluating fiction being a primary way people engage with it rather than experiencing. (the "evaluating self and the "experiencing self") research data concludes that discussion and processing fictional texts were greatly beneficial and therapeutic for participants. After reading both of these studies, and applying it to my knowledge of proshipping and antishipping I've concluded that the antishipping "movement", going against the proship has negative impact on the fandom. preventing what could be therapeutic and beneficial for well-being. The neuroticism, widespread misinformation, and the fear mongering, anti-ship identifying people contribute to a backwards and toxic rhetoric that harms ALL people involved in fandom. combining all the research papers I've posted and read. all research points to a doomed fandom experience.
