After surviving for years in the Australian bush, hidden under 26kg (57lbs) of burdensome wool and dodging rescue attempts, our team finally brought Victoria to sanctuary! 🐑❤️ Did you know that sheep, like Victoria, require at least annual shearing for their welfare? This is a direct result of human selective breeding for wool that is harvested for commercial purposes and speaks to how we have altered their lives. The wild mouflon of Europe and Asia, from whom they are descended, was a coarse-haired animal with a downy undercoat. This body covering responded to the seasons, growing dense and providing protection in the cooler months, only to then be shed in the summer months. Today sheep rely on humans for sustenance, shelter and shearing, and failure on any of these fronts oft times proves fatal for these animals. #friendsnotfood #animalrescue #farmsanctuary #rescuesheep #rescueanimals #sheepshearing #animallover #sheepoftiktok #sheep

Before arriving at Edgar's Mission Eleanor's ill health caused her to lose her babies, a devastating experience for any mother. 😔 Despite her compromised state and inability to walk, we remained determined.
Then, a new arrival brought hope—a baby boy named Ohio, who had lost his mother. We hoped for a miracle, longing for them to bond and fulfill each other's needs. Although there were other orphans, Eleanor's affection for Ohio was undeniable.
Unfortunately, he couldn't nurse properly, leaving us saddened by Eleanor's longing. However, we found a solution—bottle-feeding Ohio and cleverly positioning the bottle near Eleanor's teat. This brought tears of joy and a heartwarming moment as Eleanor turned towards her new son. Even though Eleanor didn't carry Ohio during the five-month pregnancy, her love for him is unwavering. 🥰
Over the past few weeks, their bond has grown stronger. Ohio has thrived under Eleanor's care, and she has gradually regained her strength. Motivated by Ohio's presence, Eleanor took small steps with the assistance of her caretakers, determined to walk again. Now, you can see them strolling side by side in the fields, a testament to their unwavering love and the strength they found in each other. ❤️ #animalrescue #farmsanctuary #friendsnotfood #sheepoftiktok

Today marks two years since Rammie Baa Baa came to Edgar’s Mission in a critical condition, suffering from a rare and severe affliction. His scrotum had swollen enormously, weighing over 40 kilos and causing immense discomfort. 🐑 Our team at the sanctuary immediately sought medical help, consulting two veterinary clinics before Rammie underwent a lengthy 4-hour surgery. The operation was a success, removing the mass and transforming Rammie’s life. Now, he enjoys easier mobility and spends his days grazing happily with his friends Aroha and Miss Taken, who are also visually impaired like him. At Edgar’s Mission, we're committed to treating every animal as an individual deserving of kindness. Alpacas, once South American natives, are now popular guard animals for flocks of sheep and chickens in Australia, often sought after for their soft fleece and adorable faces. 🦙❤️ However, many have been neglected, like Al Fredo and Al Pacino. On Saturday night we took a call to assist a cow downed in a bog. 🐮 A mirky mire that had claimed her for at least a day. Claimed her and all of the strength that had run through her parasite-riddled and emaciated body. Making this picture of helplessness even more heart-wrenching was the sight of her wee and hungry calf who refused to leave her side. For an animal classed as a food-production animal, things rarely end well. And although we still do not know which way the tea leaves will fall on this one, we know this dear cow will be loved forever more. And therein we found the inspiration for her name, Cher, which means dearly loved. Something which she was the instant the kind-hearted Krysti from Rescue Rehabilitate Release came upon her whilst attending a routine wildlife call-out. Such a concern, too, for Cher’s well-being, was palpable the instant we drove through the gate to the paddock where she lay, for instead of the three or so Emergency Service volunteers we expected to see on hand to assist, there were at least a dozen. And so today, as we have worked tirelessly to get Cher back on those little black, not quite so muddy hooves of hers, we give thanks to the kind-hearted everywhere. ❤️ Our team, aided by our tractor, bought through donor funds, has lifted dear Cher up multiple times during the day, massaging those limbs, whilst this stoic little lady is giving us reasons for hope. Eating grass and hay that is slowly fuelling life into those once-lifeless limbs, whilst her bub, whom we have named Cherish, is never too far from view. At just over one year of age, what this hapless animal has been through is something no animal ever should. The irony of this, though, is that this tragic circumstance has secured a bright future for Cherish and could be the key to a long-lived and much-loved life for Cher. So for now, we are fighting the good fight, because that is what one does when those we dearly love are in trouble. Our sincere thanks to the volunteers from SES Whittlesea Unit, Woolert CFA, and Arthurs Creek and Strathewen CFA, for without their kind assistance this rescue would not have been possible. 🙏 #animalrescue #farmsanctuary #friendsnotfood

Watch Kansas learn how to walk on her own! 🙌🐑 Kansas arrived covered in mud and unable to walk, her circumstances revealed a difficult past. An old wound on her tail raised concerns about a potential bacterial infection or the fatal white muscle disease. After ruling out the latter through tests and providing supportive treatment, our fears shifted to controlling the infection. While we are currently ahead in the race, we must remain vigilant, as the immune systems of orphaned lambs are often too weak to overcome joint infections, even with medication, positive thoughts, and kindness.
Unaware of the challenges she faces, little Kansas only knows that she desires to live. Her determination touched us deeply as she pushed herself forward, capturing our attention and already having our hearts. Inspired by our sweet friend, we hurriedly arranged a wheelchair for Kansas. Now on her second one, equipped with sturdy wheels to match her speed and independence, and with regular assisted walking sessions and plenty of cuddles, Kansas continues to provide us with reasons to hope against the odds.
Despite her circumstances, Kansas remains cheerful and chatty, and we find her truly inspirational. She challenges the conventional view of her kind as mere "farmed" animals, treated as commercial commodities without deserving our love, care, and recognition of their consciousness. Kansas reminds us to break away from outdated thinking and forge a new path guided by kindness, justice, tender mercy, and the best of our humanity. ❤️ #animalrescue #farmsanctuary #friendsnotfood #sheepoftiktok

This Monday, tears of joy flowed as these woolly sheep finally found sanctuary, marking a momentous day for our entire rescue team and supporters. 🐑
Earlier this year, we received an alert about four sheep wandering the vast Wombat State Forest – a seemingly impossible rescue mission. Undeterred by the challenge, our curiosity, concern, and compassion fuelled our determination. 🌲❤️
Legends were born as these survivors, victims of a truck rollover eight years ago, lived like bushrangers in the wild. Despite facing nature's elements, bushfires, and motorists, their astounding resilience couldn't escape the burden of heavy fleece, a result of human-selected genetics.
The journey took a poignant turn on April 25th when our team first spotted the sheep after an intense hour of searching – just the beginning of our emotional rollercoaster. 📅
Amid setbacks, including the peaceful passing of the eldest sheep, Jack Dolan, our determination held firm. Ned Kelly and Harry Power found sanctuary, but Mad Dan Morgan remained elusive.
In a twist of fate, using Harry Power's fleece, we successfully lured Mad Dan. On Monday, our hopes were realized – he stood alongside the fleece. The reunion of the surviving trio at the sanctuary became an emotional moment, with Jack's spirit palpable among us. 🌈🐑
This story is a testament to never giving up – turning 'impossible' into 'I'm possible' leads to miraculous outcomes. We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone involved in this rescue. Your dedication and belief in our mission made this heart-warming tale possible. 🙏❤️

During one of the major storms over the last few weeks, GoA was called out to assist with the rescue of a pig who was swept away by a flood. Many of the other animals on this property drowned, sadly. They were able to get this pig to safety and keep him secured in their trailer while an agreement was made to let him live at a sanctuary instead of being forced to go back to the farm he came from to be butchered. Leanne from GoA reached out to try to find placement for him. I said, “If the perfect home doesn’t come along, we can help.” Well, it was meant to be that he came to Rancho Relaxo because no other sanctuary was able to help. Welcome, Tobias. We love you, buddy. Pan’s owners didn’t know what type of goat he is. Most likely a large mixed breed bred for meat, but they loved him dearly as a pet and want the best for him, so I will make it my mission to give him a fun, happy, adventure-filled life, walking around the neighborhood with his friends🥰❤️🐿️#goatsoftiktok #farmsanctuary #petgoats #animalrescue #goatsareawesome

🥳 Join us in celebrating Joey’s 5th Birthday! Joey’s unique challenges, including wry nose and a cleft palate, once threatened his health and wellbeing. To secure a future where he could breathe, eat, and drink without any complications, dedicated veterinarians from Cornell University performed a series of corrective surgeries.

If you would like to donate toward his neuter and vaccines, PayPal boochaces@aol.com or Venmo boochaces ❤️ #animalrescue #animallovers #compassionforanimals #farmsanctuary

NO WORRY (her racing name) is settling in here at Rancho Relaxo after being rescued for slaughter last week. She is getting so comfortable that she started pooping in our direction — which is totally fine. Good for her. We have been tossing around a few names for this beauty. Every time I clean her quarantine area, I sing 🎤 TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEARTTTT 🎶 — because a few of you suggested the name Eclipse. What do you think? ❤️ Thank you all for being here. Without you, we couldn’t give the level of care that we do to all of the animals we rescue. #animallovers #animalrescue #horses #farmsanctuary

Properly caring for chicks, ducklings, and bunnies requires a massive amount of responsibility and commitment. 🐰🐣 Let’s normalize taking our families to see animals at a local farm sanctuary, instead of impulsively buying them as an Easter gift. #easter #veganeaster #farmsanctuary #animalwelfare #animalrights #ducklings #babyanimals #cuteanimals #babychicks #bunnies #rabbits #easterbunny #veganfortheanimals

Cedric, a young sheep who was likely facing backyard slaughter, fled for days in a off-leash dog park. 🐑 We heard of his plight and embarked on a rescue mission. It was challenging, as Cedric was wary of humans. After running across many steep hills, a dog (who was temporarily hard of hearing) helped us bring him to saftey. 🐕 Finally safe, Cedric is now thriving at the sanctuary, embracing companionship, kindness, and love. ❤️ #animalrescue #farmsanctuary #rescueanimals #friendsnotfood

I can’t even begin to describe the week @hispees and I have had. Alone, doing all of the farm chores. Freezing temperatures. Cracked, bleeding hands. Frozen pipes. Heaters not working. Electric not working. Laughing madly. Hysterically crying. Slipping and falling on sheets of ice. Vehicles stuck to the ground. Hysterically crying some more. But every single animal is cared for — warm, fed, watered, loved. We will crawl to provide them with whatever they need if that’s what it takes. When people ask me if they should start a sanctuary, I think of days like today … yesterday … the day before and I say, “Lol. No.” This life is a total sacrifice of one’s time, mind, body and soul. To anyone out there who is taking care of rescued animals outside in this weather, thank you. Keep going. I know it hurts. I know you feel so very alone. I know it seems like no one else cares about how hard you push yourself. But the animals see you. They see you bringing them their prepared meals. They see you giving them extra bedding to stay cozy. They see you breaking ice with a hammer and picking out the pieces with your bare hands. They see you. And whether or not they understand exactly what you are doing, they feel the result of it all. It is 8:00 PM. I just got inside and I am going to bed. Goodnight. P.S. Please go give @hispees love because I could never in a million years do this without him. #animalrescue #animallovers #freezingcold #farmsanctuary #rescuehorse

Glinda escaped from slaughter 4 years ago. She was running loose in the woods for quite a while before she was roped and captured by authorities. She knew that she was going to be sent back to the place that was going to butcher her, so she fought hard. Thankfully, she was officially surrendered to us (Rancho Relaxo) so she could live out her days in sanctuary. If you were rooting for her in the first clip, you are compassionate by definition. Keep Glinda in mind today and make choices that will do as little harm as possible. It starts within and you are already there. ❤️ #veganfortheanimals #animalrescue #animallovers #farmsanctuary #animalsanctuary #choosekindness

I don’t know why I found this moment from today to be so adorable but I had to share. This was baby Simon’s second vet appointment — but first shots! He did so well. I am so proud of him. Thank you Doctor B for always being patient with our newest rescued kids. You’re incredible. ❤️ Simon will be going in for surgery to be gelded and to fix his umbilical hernia once his quarantine is over and he is healthy enough. Thank you to everyone for supporting our mission so we can help animals in need — just like Simon. #animalrescue #animallovers #farmsanctuary #horses #horserescue Please consider joining Patreon for the animals here at Rancho Relaxo by clicking the link in my bio.

🚨 Whitney’s recent blood test revealed she has anemia, indicating she’s lost blood. This could be due to various reasons, but a specific cause hasn’t been pinpointed yet. Possible causes could be abomasal ulcer, cardiovascular related or kidney injury. Her urinalysis was surprisingly fine. We weren’t able to examine her closely today, but additional diagnostics are necessary to understand her condition better. We will set Whitney up with her own stall and outside yard to keep a close eye on her this week. 🙏 #animals #farmlife #animalrescue #cows #michigan #farmsanctuary #barnsanctuary #michigan
