We heard this trend was making a comeback. In this video, Howard letterpress printed “[as]” with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852. The 15 line wood type was made by the Hamilton Wood Type Company in the 1880s. #SacHistoryMuseum #as #adultswim #letterpress #museumtok #typography

Viewers of our videos often mention that our print shop is very organized. There is an old phrase to live by and it’s the subject of this video. In this video, Jared letterpress printed a phrase in 36 point Cheltenham Bold Condensed type font. This phrase “A place for everything and everything in its place” has a variety of different origins. It has been a quote attributed to Ben Franklin and it has also been a quote published at the end of old American Type Founders type catalogs. The meaning of the phrase is the notion that everything should have a rightful place to be kept and that it should be returned to that location when not in use. This was printed in reflex blue rubber base ink using a 3x5 Kelsey Excelsior tabletop printing press. 45 prints were made in this press run. This print is part of a bundle of prints available in our museum store and website! #SacHistoryMuseum #typography #asmr #museumtok #getcultured #printmaking

Join us as we welcome Samuel Clemens – Mark Twain – in Old Sacramento’s historic Eagle Theatre for an evening of conversation and lecture, featuring McAvoy Layne as Mr. Twain on Friday, August 11. Tickets may be purchased online, in person, or by phone. The Eagle Theatre is located near the intersection of Front & J Street, across the Passenger Station. Doors open at 6pm with the presentation starting at 7pm. In this video, Howard letterpress prints an image from a large photo engraving of Mark Twain that we have in our print shop exhibit. The type is 60 point Caslon. A couple of prints will be raffled as door prizes but we will have others available for purchase at the event. #SacHistoryMuseum #marktwain #typography #asmr #museumtok #getcultured
