GOT IT!!! Imagine having a sharp, barbed seed stuck all the way up your nose! Foxtails are a common plant found in many regions, and they can easily become lodged in a dog's fur, ears, nose, paws – pretty much anywhere you can imagine. They can cause significant pain and irritation, and in some cases, they can even lead to serious infections. Foxtail season is coming up so keep an eye out for these pesky plants during walks or outdoor playtime! #foxtail #california #oddlysatisfying #vet

Follow me as I help this kitty who had a urethral obstruction. 🐈 Male cats can easily develop obstruction of the urethra, the tube that drains urine from the bladder. Urethral obstruction in cats can have many different causes, including urethral plugs (as seen in the video), urinary stones, strictures, or tumors. Mechanical blockages can also occur secondary to urethral spasm or swelling secondary to inflammation in the lower urinary tract. One common condition in cats that can lead to inflammation in the bladder and secondary obstruction is feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC). Treatment usually involves relieving the obstruction and supportive care consisting of fluid therapy, correcting electrolyte imbalances and pain medication. Unfortunately, recurrence is common, so preventative measures at home are also recommended such as a prescription urinary diet and keeping the cat well hydrated. 👕: new @FIGS Dark Cherry 🍒🔥 #vet #veterinary #vettech #foryou
