Letās talk about migraines. Migraines are one of the 10 most disabling medical conditions, ocur mostly in people age 20-50, and are 3x more common in women. Symptoms can range from person to person but typically include pulsating head pain, a visual or sensory aura which precedes the headache, light and sound sensitivity, and nausea or vomiting. While we donāt always know the cause, there are some known triggers discussed in this video. In addition, warning signs with headaches that should warrant an ER visit include but are not limited to: sudden onset severe headache, acute or subacute neck pain, neurological changes, headache with change in mental status, significant visual impairment, fever or repeated episodes of nausea and vomiting. Women are resilient. Women are smart. Women are strong. Women are capable. We should not be told what we can and canāt do, and even if they try to tell us, weāll prove them wrong anyway. To all of the women I know (and donāt know) who are following their dreams, keep going! You are amazing and you WILL catch them. Happy #InternationalWomensDay baddies. ā„ļø #IWD

Anyone else? š I do love my career and Iām so thankful for where I am after countless years of studying and training, but there are some days where I wish I could just work remote, in my PJs, have a 3 (or 4) day weekend, orrr just not work at all. So for now Iāll be daydreaming about retirement and for when I can travel for months at a time. āŗļøš P.S. is NOT to discredit SAHMās the slightest bit, because I can only imagine that that is a full-time job in itself. š«¶š¼ #tiktokdoc #medstudent #residency

Letās talk about SSRIs/SNRIs/TCAs/MAOIs While many consider āantidepressantsā to only treat one thing, there are so many other indications for them as well. Here are a few: ā¢Anxiety ā¢ADHD ā¢OCD ā¢PTSD ā¢Eating Disorders ā¢Migraines ā¢PMDD and Menopause ā¢Insomnia ā¢Interstitial Cystitis ā¢Peripheral Neuropathy ā¢Multiple Sclerosis ā¢Chronic Pain ā¢Fibromyalgia ā¢Weight gain or weight loss And others. Basically Iām trying to say that if you are feeling off or arenāt feeling like yourself, you should talk to your PCP about any unusual symptoms youāre having. They may be able to offer you a solution that could really help improve your quality of life, whether itās a medication or something else, itās always worth a conversation. Your health, whether itās physical or mental, is so extremely important. ā„ļø #worldmentalhealthday #tiktokdoc *All content and opinions are created for informational purposes only.
