Use a hashtag for 1.5 million dollars? To help children battling a cancer diagnosis? That’s right. I teamed up with Aflac—who interestingly has HEAVILY contributed to childhood cancers and blood disorders—to donate $2 for any time anyone uses the hashtag #bridgetobrighter. The concept is to hopefully, together, bridge a brighter future for those who get faced with otherwise an obviously devastating diagnosis. Never heard of #WorldCancerDay ? If you have been affected by cancer in your personal life in any way, you'll be encouraged. World Cancer Day is directly aimed at closing the gaps and variability in cancer care, not just across the country, but the globe. La Roche-Posay, who has been focused on studying and aiding patients undergoing cancer therapies since 1905, is not surprisingly a sponsor of this bigger than self-mission, and I hope you will be too. One example of @larocheposayus 's efforts is to optimize the health of the largest organ on your body--your skin. Here's to doing the most we can for one another, together. #LaRochePosayUSA #LaRochePosay #LaRochePosayPartner @LaRochePosayUS

‼️don't take iron 3x a day?! ‼️ In one of many humbling realizations on the complexity of the human body, we have learned from our previous theory, where reasonably one would think if someone is iron deficient that giving more iron should improve the levels, that in fact exposing our stomachs to certain threshold of iron within 24 hours, actually increases Hepcidin (named after the Greekgod Hephaestus) which decreases "the gates" to allow our interview absorb. This is because iron is a metal and in general, our bodies know we do not want to absorb *too* much heavy metal--neurologic and organ deposition. Thus, counterintuitively, though now somewhat intuitively, the "sweet spot" seems to be every other day, with a debate on maybe once a day possibly yielding more iron, but not as well tolerated as an every other day dose (constipation, abdominal pain). If you are a particularly large nerd, the reason we see, elevated platelets/thrombocytosis is because there is actually a "common" progenitor cell, which differentiates into EITHER a red blood cell, or a platelet. When are low, it actually shifts the production toward making more platelets, and when theory is because one of the most common reasons for iron deficiency is menstrual bleeding, or, bleeding of any kind, and which platelets, which are responsible for "ceasing" a bleed, a.k.a. clot blood, are important to up regulate in hopes of preventing further iron loss in the form of blood loss. And that's on the divinity of science, Greek or not. 🤯 #irondeficiencyanemia #anemia #iron #irondeficiency #heme #hematology #nerdalert

odds of overcoming--or even living humanely in spite of--a c@ncer diagnosis....should depend on where you live? how much your parents made? where providing for your family took you in the world? if you don't believe so, here's quite possibly the easiest way Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) has made it for you to SAY so. this isn't a paid thing, or an partner thing.. it's a humans thing. it's a, a part me dies every time I get the saddest most love and care purposed message from someone somewhere in the world who I have to reply 'i'm sorry but there's nothing I can do' when it comes to keeping around their loved one. bc something EXISTS, but can't get there. read the pre written petition to your government or policy makers, sign your name / edit as you see fit, and @UICC will do the rest. let's do everything we can for this year's #worldcancerday february 4th. because people deserve it. you, deserve it. https://lnkd.in/gTWu5yNm
