I tried to make Scottish Tablet which is notoriously tricky if you dont get the sugar setting temperature right, or over/under beat it. How to bake a vanilla cake in an 8 inch/20cm cake tin. I will be using my recipe in the TikTok Cookbook - As Cooked on TikTok. The recipe in the book uses a 6 inch cake tin, so I wanted to share the recipe scaled up into an 8 inch tin in case that is what you had to hand. If you only have one 8 inch cake tin do not worry. The good news about this recipe is that you can store the mixture for up to 24 hours in the fridge without little affect on the rise of the cake. I will be baking the same recipe for a 4 inch (10cm), 6 inch (15cm), and 7 inch (18cm) cake tin. There will also be some fun decorating Ideas for each of the cakes. Bake everything at 300f/150c so it bakes nice and even.
