I’ve seen this comment since the start of sharing my skincare routines on social media and it’s just not true! So many of the sunscreens I’ve tried over the years have left my skin feeling just as moisturized as (and in some cases like the example I showed here- even more moisturized than) my favorite daytime moisturizers. And that makes total sense because sunscreens contain the same kind of moisturizing ingredients that actual moisturizers do! Just because sunscreen isn’t technically labeled as a “moisturizer” doesn’t mean it’s not moisturizing your skin in addition to offering sun protection. Just like something being labeled as a “moisturizer” doesn’t automatically make it more moisturizing than a sunscreen. It all depends on the ingredients used, overall formula, and how they make your skin feel. So while I use both products, sometimes I just don’t need a separate moisturizer in my AM skincare routine because my sunscreen is plenty moisturizing by itself.
