Welcome back to Day 4 of island building!! Today was HARD work. Partly from post hole driving and worm moving but mostly bc the water was soooo low we were drudging through waist deep muck! Wow. Its like moving through wet cement. But! We finished one island perimeter and we are so close to finishing the other one! Stay tuned :) #coastalrestoration #louisiana

Island building day 3!! Today was all about them wormzzzz aka coir logs that will be the perimeter of our islands. We are still working on island #1 ha ! But this will be a long project. Not to worry! Cant wait to show yall how we start moving sand into the islands :)

Replying to @DG_2001 love that island life!! Day 2 of island building was very special and productive. We got our coco worms in the mix to build the perimeter of our first island. On day three we need to put the rest of the worms in place for this island and then fill er up with sand!

Replying to @Miranda island building has begun!!! Today we started moving sediment for the first island! The first island will be with recycled glass sand and MS river sediment and the second island will just be the MS river sediment. Then we can monitor the differences over the next 5 years! I cant wait to see the islands built and get the plants planted. Come back for day 2!

We built a boardwalk!! This boardwalk will help us build the two islands as well as monitor the project over the next few years. Bayou bienvenue was once a thriving wetland so i cant wait to see if we’re able to play a small part in restoring this beautiful area. Stay tuned because next we are building the islands!!!
