Saturday Sandwich (our history) on Sandwiches of History What? Two “sandwich of our history” in one week? Yep! Today, I am trying out a sandwich recipe share by our friends Wes and Chuck. Wes’ dad was a minister so a big Sunday breakfast was never in the cards. Thankfully, his mom came up with this tasty sandwich that they could enjoy on Saturday. For the record, there is no way this is not gonna be great. Just sayin’ #fyp #sandwichesofhistory

Lettuce Sandwich (1900) on Sandwiches of History And we are back with another banger from 1900’s The Sandwich Book - the Lettuce Sandwich. You might be tempted to scoff at some as boring as a lettuce sandwich but fret not for there are three of them in this cookbook. And this one has two other ingredients that will, at the very least surprise you. One of which we have to make. And just remember, I makes the recipes as written so don’t @ me bro. #fyp #sandwichesofhistory

Omelette Sandwich from Chef José Andrés (our history) on Sandwiches of History Every once in a while a sandwich comes along that sounds odd yet also likely to be tasty? Today, we are taking on one of those sandwiches. Peter sent me this video last week and I knew I just had to give it a go. Kewpie mayo, omelette, tuna, salsa de tomate, and furikake? Don’t you threaten me with a good time, chef. Oh, I should mention this sandwich is one of humanitarian and world renown chef José Andrés. So how can you expect me not to try it? The original video of him sharing it is over on First We Feast. Donate to World Central Kitchen, sign up for my free weekly recap email, slip into some merch and more! Starlight Sizzler (1977) on Sandwiches of History Not sure what made Ken Dodd name this sandwich the Starlight Sizzler for his Ken Dodd’s Butty Book of 1977. I mean, I guess you melt cheese that’s maybe the sizzle ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Still, this sound like it’s going to be a tasty sandwich from the get-go. So I’m not gonna complain. #fyp #sandwichesofhistory

Banana and Ham Sandwich (1936) on Sandwiches of History Finally, the sweetness of bananas and the smokey deliciousness of ham are united in the Banana and Ham Sandwich from 1,001 Sandwiches of 1936. Oh were it that simple, because the recipe actually calls of deviled ham. Which puts a spanner in the works. Still it could taste, ok, right? Oh, and for those keeping score at home, it’s a minus down day. Just keep in mind I really am trying to improve the sandwich when I plus it up. So more often than not it works. But not always.
