I grew up hearing a lot of men agitatedly say things to their wives like, “Are you serious?! How did you even manage to do that?” Or “I can’t believe you” or “Ugh!” with an eye roll. [save & share for a discussion with your spouse!] I would be lying if I said I still didn’t have a knee-jerk reaction whenever I make a mistake around Jesse, waiting for his negative response. But it has never come. 💭 I’ve made messes of friendships and he sits with me, lets me cry on his shoulder, and talks me through it with patience. 💭 I’ve been in a car accident and received tickets that were my fault — the only thing he ever asks is, “Are you ok?!”. 💭 In this clip, I spilled coffee (because I’m clumsy) and he laughed and poked fun at me to help me laugh about it. It feels like a piece of me is healing every time this happens. He doesn’t fault me for being imperfect, and he doesn’t shame me for making mistakes. He sets an example for our boys to see that there is no reason to put their wives on blast, to embarrass them in front of others, but to lead with patience. (Tap that follow + button for more like this!) He is an example of lifting his wife up — rather than making her feel small for making a mistake. I pray that as they see this in him, they take this respect into their own marriages in the future. 🖤 For video teachings from Jesse and me, register for “The Marriage Project” — 2 biblical marriage courses in one for a holier, happier marriage in 8 weeks.
