as a woman who receives some of the most revolting dm’s DAILY, it is something that is incredibly frustrating and happens to so many female reptile keepers. I don’t talk about it often at all simply because I am friends with a lot of men on this platform that are amazing and don’t harass women on the internet, but regardless there are more than a handful that are actively being disgusting to us and think it’s perfectly okay. also, my dm’s are always open to any of my fellow female reptile keepers if you ever want to talk about anything that was said to you. I am here for you and can without a doubt relate to what you’re dealing with. 🤍

we have been smacked in the face with a shocking discovery at the vet this afternoon: my “main man”, my “smaugie boy”… has been revealed to be a female. 🎀 “he” had been to the vet NUMEROUS times before today and no other vet has caught the fact that she is a girl because I had never requested an x-ray before. now, we know. this feels incredibly strange to me, I won’t lie. 😂 I am not renaming, but I will take suggestions for a very girly middle name for her. she needs a really girly middle name to combat the very male name that I gave her four years ago 😭 - for those curious about more of the medical things: 🩺 she is being given Ceftazidime (Fortaz) intramusculaely once every three days for 21 days just in case there is any parasites. they were unable to get a fecal sample, so this was a “just in case” kind of thing. 🩺 Lactulose because there is some poop that she is clearly having some issues getting out, so that will be given daily for 30 days. 🩺 Calcium Gluconate is being given every day for 90 days. this is a liquid calcium basically to give support during egg production and to treat any imbalances just in case. due to the fact that I always thought Smaug was a male, the calcium wasn’t up to par with the amount that a gravid female would need. - #beardeddragon #beardeddragonsofinstagram #reptilemom #reptilekeeper #reptilesofinstagram
