FULL RECIPE BELOW: Nothing more comforting than some homemade soup and a little reminder someone cares for you! *Also, just want to correct my verbiage that could be triggering to the CF community. CF was once considered a terminal illness, while it is a progressive genetic condition with the advanced of treatments and medicine it has SIGNIFICANTLY improved the lives of CF patients. HUGS to all the warriors out there! Homemade bone broth 1 small whole chicken 1 large white onion 4 peeled carrots 7 garlic cloves 6 stalks of celery 1 leak 1 shallot 1 2inch knob of ginger (optional) Splash of vinegar Soup ingredients 1 package of bacon 1 large white onion 1 leak 3 medium sized diced carrots 5 celery stalks diced 1 16 oz chopped mushrooms 1.5 cups of peas 8 tablespoons of bacon fat 9 tablespoons Rice Flour 4 cup of homemade Chicken Broth 3 cup of plant based milk (non flavored) 5 sprigs of thyme, oregano and majorum 2 sprigs of rosemary Seasoning is to taste (lightly) Kirklands no salt seasoning (optional) Garlic salt, Garlic powder, garlic powder, Salt + Pepper. All to taste, doesnāt need a ton. Cooking instructions: Par boil chicken with salt and water for 10 minutes to clean and for clearer broth. Drain and put back in pot with onion, shallot, celery, carrot, ginger, garlic, Leak and fill pot up with filtered water to cover. Splash of vinegar to help bring out collagen in chicken. Place on medium heat and bring to boil. Reduce on medium low for 1.5-2 hours. Scoop off any impurities that float to the top. Remove chicken and shred, keep chicken stock Pan fry the bacon. Add fresh cracked pepper or regular pepper on top while frying (optional) Place on paper napkin after to absorb extra fat and break into bacon pieces. (save bacon grease for sauting veggies). Cube onions, carrots, celery. Chop mushroom and leak. SautĆ© all veggies in left over bacon fat, thyme, and rosemary for 4 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper and no salt seasoning. Add gluten free flour of your choice and mix so the veggies are coated and worked in (2 minutes). Add chicken stock and almond milk to flour coated veggies. Bring to a boil. Add chicken and bacon back in and stir. Add frozen peas. Let simmer for 10 minutes. If you desire thicker consistency dilute more gluten free flour into water in a side bowl and slowly drip in and mix until consistency is to your desire. When I tell you I have never seen my kids in so much fear šš here is what was shared with us after this type of accident. Obviously goes without saying please consult your doctor first! Watch Your Child Closely for 2 Hours: ā¢ Observe your child closely during the first 2 hours following the injury. ā¢ Encourage your child to lie down and rest until all symptoms have cleared. Mild headache, mild dizziness and nausea are common. ā¢ Allow your child to sleep if he wants to, but keep him nearby. ā¢ After 2 hours, awaken your child. Check that he is alert and knows who you are. Also, check that he can talk and walk normally. Diet - Start with Clear Fluids: ā¢ Offer only clear fluids to drink, in case he vomits. ā¢ Return to regular diet after 2 hours. ā¢ Exception: Babies can continue breast feeding or formula. Pain Medicine: ā¢ For pain relief, give acetaminophen every 4 hours Or ibuprofen every 6 hours as needed. (See Dosage Table.) ā¢ Exception: Avoid until 2 hours have passed from injury without any vomiting. Also, don't continue pain medicine more than 3 days without seeing your child's PCP. ā¢ Caution: Never give aspirin to children and teens. (Reason: always increases risk of bleeding.) Special Precautions For 1 Night: ā¢ Mainly, sleep in same room as your child the first night. ā¢ Reason: If a complication occurs, you will recognize it because your child will first develop a severe headache, vomiting, confusion or other change in their behavior. Optional: if you are worried, awaken your child once during the night. ā¢ Check the ability to walk and talk. (For infants, check the ability to become fully alert and move both arms and legs normally.) ā¢ After 24 hours, return to a normal routine. Expected Course: ā¢ Most head trauma only causes a scalp injury. ā¢ The swelling may take a week to resolve. ā¢ The scalp tenderness at the site of impact usually clears in 3 days. Call Back If ā¢ Severe headache or crying persists after 20 minutes of ice pack ā¢ Vomiting occurs 2 or more times ā¢ Your child becomes difficult to awaken or confused ā¢ Walking or talking becomes difficult ā¢ Headache lasts more than 24 hours ā¢ Scalp tenderness lasts more than 3 days ā¢ Your child becomes worse Soft Spot - Concerns About: ā¢ The soft spot (fontanel) is present from birth until 12 to 18 months of age. Babies are asleep, time to eat š No need for a grill bb, this is how to cook a steak to a perfect medium rare! 1. Buy a thick cut steak 1.5-2 inch with good marble (ribeye/NY) 2. Pat dry and season 3. Let it sit to come to room temp (30 min) and preheat oven 260 4. Put steak in for 18 mins flipping it halfway through the timer. Take our of oven right away and then sear. 5. Heat cast iron on high 6. Sear fat cap first 45 seconds 7. Reduce to medium high Lay the steak down and sear for 3-3.5 minutes and then flip. If your steak is smaller than 1.5ā thick sear for 2 mins each side 8. Sear rest of sides (20-30 sec) 9. Pull off onto wood cutting board and let rest for 8 minutes 10.
