When I first purchased Primrose Hill Manor, I piled into the garden centres like the rest of the other garden enthusiasts, filling my cart with tray after tray of annuals. With 8 large garden beds, I quickly realized how dangerous this activity was for my pocket book. Yes, it was adding a quick blast of colour but it was also an activity that saw no return at the end of the year. Perennials are your friend, dear follower. And the best part, after a time you can divide those perennials to share with friends or expand other gardens. Now that is how you make a beautiful garden work for you 🌸 Of course, I still treat myself to annuals every year, but just not cart loads. Do you have a perennial work horse in your garden? Time is speeding up. I’ve got 7 weeks to go before I pass the homeowner baton to the new owners, whom I adore btw. I am both excited and trepidatious only because my house hunt continues and I haven’t found “the one” just yet. In a perfect world I would find a Victorian fixer upper. My “era”. Something I could live in for a couple of years before I slowly strategized a thoughtful reno/restoration. But not right away. This momma needs a wee pause to breathe and reconnect with her teenagers. Time needs to slow down slightly. Of course, making my new house a home will be a priority. I am confident you will still be seeing me on the gram every day. Look out new “before and afters” 😍 But for now though, the next 7 weeks of life will be busy.
