The Embung Sanur area in Denpasar has become one of the filthiest waterways in Bali due to the accumulation of waste coming from an ongoing renovation of a water tunnel. The renovation has been taking place for the past 8 months and is yet to be completed. Our team has been working tirelessly for the past 3 days to clean up the area and we have successfully collected over 4,000 kg of plastic. However, cleaning up the area is not enough. We need to stop this from happening again. Everyone has a responsibility in addressing the problem of waste management, starting at the household level. We will be installing one of our barriers in this waterway and work upstream with the local communities and government to prevent this from happening again.
