I love to use filters to enhance our photos, but there’s never any need to filter out #specialneeds . Those special needs are what makes my daughter unique, AND are what make me unique as a mom to her. It’s fun to play around with filters like this (and pretend as #strawberryblondes to momentarily be the #redheads of our dreams 😜 ) but I hope we can just all be kind, and proud of who we are behind the filters. And most importantly, accept people with special needs! They bring so much beauty to the world, and it’s something we need to cherish. #downsyndrome

Gwen is still on oxygen during the day because having pneumonia and Covid back-to-back last month really hurt her lungs, which were already on shaky ground. So we work on getting her up and moving as much as we can to hopefully rebuild that lung capacity. Watching her dance is the cutest thing! ##dancinggirl##downsyndrome

I love that my life is a mix of caring for both an amazing daughter WITH Down syndrome, an amazing daughter WITHOUT #downsyndrome while still also caring for MYSELF as a mom and also my own person! I can be fashionable and fun and still be a mom to the best girls ever!

I don’t do social media trends very often but when I saw Rowan galumphing along in her pink boots it made me think of the galumphing I am seeing people doing to this song all over social media. And it just made me laugh! And I had to use the song. (And “galumph”is a real word, isn’t it great? 😄) I also generally try to keep us at least somewhat presentable & fashionable but when I saw the state my girls were in yesterday - with Rowan in her avocado pajamas & pink boots, and Gwen in her hat and hodgepodge ensemble, complete with dress tucked into the back of her pants - I was like, THIS IS JUST THE BEST. 😆 This is right where we should be when it’s the first day of March, and we have spent the past 4 weeks enduring FOUR viruses PLUS pneumonia PLUS 10 days in the hospital and now are home with covid. Just to round out the month, why not?! 😳 So we broke Gwen away from her oxygen for a brief 5 minutes to get outside in the fresh air, and my adorable yet fashion-failing daughters lifted my spirits once again.
