TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE BABY 📝 Clarification: Total solar eclipses happen on Earth once every 18 months... BUT- most happen in the ocean or somewhere remote not accessible by most people. They only happen in any given location once every 375 years (on average). On top of that... even if you're lucky enough to be in the slim path of totality, on the day of a total solar eclipse - you need the skies to be clear. AND totality only lasts for ~2.5 minutes. Their children or even grandchildren finish the journey 🥲 🦋 They produce one of the rarest natural sounds on Earth - millions of butterflies flapping their wings in unison. It’s hard to capture on camera, you have to see it in person!! —— HOW TO GET HERE —— ✈️ Fly to Mexico City, Mexico 🚙 Drive 4 hours north to Angangueo (or take bus) 🏨 Stay overnight in Angangueo 🚙 8am: Drive 1 hour to "El Rosario" Monarch Butterfly Forest OR “Sierra Chincua” Butterfly Forest 🏃 9am: Start hike (or rent horse) 📍 10am - 2pm: Optimal viewing time for butterflies (must be sunny!) —— NOTES —— 📝 Best months to visit are January to March, ideally February! 📝 Best to go during weekdays to avoid crowds 📝 Bring cash!
