Have you ever heard of a hair tourniquet? This is a term for when a piece of hair or thread from clothes or a blanket get wrapped around a child’s toe(s) or finger(s). If baby is inconsolable though you’ve tried everything (diaper, feeding, walking, cuddles), check out their digits! A mom tip we have seen shared is to have a toolkit handy consisting of small nail clippers or nail scissors, tweezers and even Nair! These can be helpful in removing that tangled hair from baby’s body but if you are unable to remove it quickly, seek medical help ASAP! The hair can become tight enough that it blocks blood flow to the area and can damage tissue. Do frequent checks of baby (every diaper change is a good time!) and also of their clothing and blankets to trim any loose threads. Have you ever experienced this before?
