702 Danforth. The house was built in 1899 for George Zett. Zett was a successful brewery owner and hired Archimedes Russell to design both this home for himself and one next door for his daughter and his son-in-law. Historian Evamaria Hardin described the building as: “Finished in white-oak, plate-glass and stained-glass windows imported from Munich. There was a ballroom on the third level and a bowling alley in the basement.” In 1953, the Zett House was gifted to the nearby St. John the Baptist and utilized as a convent. It would later become home to several religious groups including the friars from Assumption Church and the Sisters of the St. Franciscan order of the Catholic Church. In the early 2000s, it was once again a single-family residence when it was owned by Charlie Sallin. This historic home was purchased last month by a small group of local residents who hope to properly preserve the building with a long term plan for lodging and potential event space. #oldhouse #oldhousetiktok

This was a free tree planted in my right-of-way by the city of Syracuse. To have a free tree planted in at your home email trees@syr.gov with your address and request. After you submit your request, you will be contacted by a staff member to confirm your interest in our program. They will inspect the site to determine the ideal location(s) trees, and select an appropriate species based on space and surrounding conditions. City contractors will then install the tree in the spring or fall. 🌳
