Avocados are a superfood. They are an excellent source of healthy fats. Did you know that it is possible for their surface to be contaminated with listeria and salmonella? Cutting into an avocado with these harmful pathogens on their surface, can cause them to enter the inside of the fruit. This is why it is important to thoroughly wash your avocados before cutting into them. With either a fruit and vegetable wash or an apple cider and baking soda soak. Do you wash your avocados before cutting them? Comment below. #Avocado #AvocadoLover #AvocadoToast #Avocado #HealthyFats #NaturopathicDoctor #NaturopathicMedicine

Blueberries can make you smarter? Blueberries are one of my favorite foods. When it comes to brain health, they possess a compound called anthocyanins which the research has shown to have great benefits on brain health. Meta-analysis of randomized control trials show the benefits of blueberries on several cognitive parameters, including reaction time, attention, and memory. This is why I love having a cup of blueberries every day. It is important to make sure they are organic, however! I have the blueberries on their own or a smoothie. How often do you have blueberries? Comment below. #Blueberries #AnthemScans #BrainHealth #brainboost #BrainSupport #CognitiveBoost #Cognition #NaturopathicDoctor #NaturopathicMedicine #brainfood #brainfog

You WILL NOT BELIEVE what my stool test to assess my gut health showed, and I am a naturopathic doctor. I was having some symptoms like the occasional abdominal pain. I decided to do an endoscopy which was normal and ended up getting billed $10,000 for it. Thanks to being misinformed about my insurance coverage. So I ended up doing a stool test to get a comprehensive evaluation of my digestive tract. The results were shocking to me. I had a pathogenic bacteria in my gut. I had gluten intolerance. And the combination of these factors had caused my gut to become leaky and condition known as intestinal, hyperpermeability. Leaky gut is a concern because it says the stage for a variety of other conditions, including auto immune disease. Now I have initiated a four R treatment protocol for gut health that I implement on my patience for myself. The first step is identifying any foods that are triggers and or pathogenic bacteria that may be present. I found that there was gluten which I was consuming that I wasn’t intolerant to, and there was this bug living inside my gut. The next step was identifying things that are missing and replacing them digestive enzymes which were sub optimal since I had food in my stool. Then there was repairing the lining with nutraceuticals that are designed to target the enterocytes of the gastrointestinal tract. And lastly, replacing any beneficial bacteria that may be missing. This is a proven structured approach for addressing gut health that needs to be personalized based on symptoms and testing. To learn more about this structured approach to optimizing gut health be sure to check out my gut health masterclass, which is available on my website. For those that want to more personalized approach with testing and treatment planning and are located in the state of California you can consider calling our office at 858-201-3171 What has been your experience with stool testing? Healthy food and snack options that I found at Walmart as a naturopathic doctor. I made a video on healthy food finds at Costco and it was a big hit and many of you asked for Walmart so here it is. I was surprised to find a lot of healthy foods at decent prices here. The problem is Walmart is so big. It’s easy to get lost in all the food choices so I wanted to give you guys a guide to use. I suggest saving this video for the next time you are at Walmart in the United States so you can pick out some of these healthy items that were priced very reasonably. Did you find this video helpful? Comment below. What are some things you buy every time you go to the grocery store?
