In 2019, BBC Newsnight’s Emily Maitlis interviewed the Duke of York, Prince Andrew, where he spoke about his relationship with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and addressed allegations about sex with a teenage girl, of which he denies. The controversial interview was picked up by every major news outlet across the globe and subjected Prince Andrew to the court of public opinion. As a result, the Duke ended up stepping down from public duties and has remained largely out of the spotlight ever since. Now a new Netflix show called ‘Scoop’ is showing all that went into the infamous interview. Producer Sam McAlister, who secured the interview and wrote the book that the film is based on, is played by Billie Piper. The movie gives a glimpse into often unseen work that goes on behind the scenes of such groundbreaking pieces of journalism. We spoke to Sam about how she secured the interview, what it was like being in the room during it, her expectations of how it would be received and her thoughts on imposter syndrome. Have you seen the film? What are your thoughts? #Freeda #EmilyMaitlis #PrinceAndrew #Scoop #Netflix #Journalism #Scandal #RoyalFamily

There are still many harmful stereotypes about the bodies of people with disabilities. This can lead to a dangerous dehumanisation, which people with disabilities combat by talking about an ableist view of reality and the body. In 2005, Alison Lepper, a British artist with phocomelia and therefore born without arms and with underdeveloped legs, was portrayed in a statue by sculptor Marc Quinn. The work depicts Alison Lepper's body during pregnancy: a subject that triggered much public criticism because the sexuality of people with disabilities is often seen as unnatural, something not to be talked about and to be erased. With this work, the sculptor and his model carried out the political act of normalising all bodies and urged the public to become aware of the existence and validity of all bodies. #Freeda #AlisonLepper #Phocomelia #Statue #Art #Disability #BodyImage

On the red carpet of the Olivier Awards, a photographer urged actress Hannah Waddingham to show her legs. Waddingham pointed out the sexist nature of this request and refused to continue posing for photos. For too long, the press has reduced celebrity women to objects, focusing more on their physical appearance than on their actual professional achievements. It is time to adopt a fairer and more respectful narrative that recognises the value and capabilities of men and women equally. #Freeda #HannahWaddingham #OlivierAwards #News #Sexism #Actress

Meet Nicola Barke - she left her job at HSBC to pursue her passion of boxing professionally. Here she shares her story, which includes having narcolepsy and being in a wheelchair when she was younger, but also being a taekwondo champion and bare knuckle fighter and most recently overcoming a brain tumour and preparing for her next big fight. She often faces comments about not 'looking' like a boxer, and being 'too girly' - but Nicola is determined to show that women can take up space in the boxing world, and they should never be afraid to dream big. #Freeda #CrushOn #NicolaBarke #Boxing #FemaleBoxer
