Welcome back to Blackness castle in Linlithgow Scotland. Originally built in the 1440s to serve the nearby royal palace of Linlithgow.  It was built by Sir George Crichton and construction began during the feud between the Crichtons and the Black Douglases which had resulted in the destruction of Crichton’s tower at Barnton in Edinburgh in 1444.
