Because kids deserve itš We cannot continue to put books in front of early readers with words they canāt decode & expect them to use the pictures to āreadā. I wrote these books to strictly follow my scope & sequence so kids never have to guess words. I also made sure to not use too many tricky high frequency words so kids can build confidence as readersš¤ My non-fiction books will be up for pre-order soon too:) Stay tuned! #teachingideas #earlyreading #readingtips #learntoread #decodablebooks

Whyyy did I used to hang these words on a wall & expect kids to memorize them? š¤¦š¼āāļø Neuroscience has showed that we read by matching sounds to symbols. And when we teach words this way, kids just need a couple repetitions before those words are stored! GAME CHANGER!!!š¤Æ Here are the 4 steps to follow to teach any word: 1. Have kids say the word 2. Have them segment (or break apart) the sounds 3. Have them spell each sound 4. Teach any irregular spelling patterns For more in depth explanations and videos, check out my page and my website! This website allows kids to use their SOUND knowledge (aka phonemic awareness skills) to help them with spelling! My son is a great reader but spelling is something we continue to work on. With this site, he can use his skills to find and spell words on his own! And, he thinks its fun!! Did I mention itās FREE?
