Very sensitive topic that I’ve addressed on my YT Q&A recently 🥺 I wish I could say thay I have come to terms with it, but the truth is the ability or inability to breastfeed your children is an extremely complex thing to experience. Our biological instinct is feed our babies at all costs. We are so privileged to live in a time where the feeding alternatives to breastmilk are so advanced and nourishing for our littles ones. Because of this…we do have a chance to weigh those costs. Sometimes the cost of breastfeeding can outweigh the benefits. I learned this the hard way of course, just like most mother’s do. If this is a lesson you have yet to learn then I hope you never have to. Its a painful one and sometimes even when you know “giving up” was the right thing to do, the complex shame and guilt of your failure in the most “natural” of jobs as their mother will always stick with you in some capacity. The logical side of me remembers how making the switch to formula at 6 months saved us in so many ways. The weight I carried on my shoulders was so heavy and I was finally able to let others help me carry it. My boys are healthy, strong snd thriving.
