🤑 THE $24 BILLION ERROR 🤦🏾‍♂️ An Instagram post by Triple M revealed a typo on Australia’s new $50 note, with the word “responsibility” misspelled as “responsibilty” in microscopic text above Edith Cowan’s shoulder. The mistake, occurring in an excerpt from Cowan’s 1921 speech to the WA Parliament, was noted on all three instances of the word. Cowan, the first Australian woman in Parliament, advocated for gender equality and social reform. The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) acknowledged the error, stating it would be corrected in the next print run, with the updated notes expected to enter circulation by the end of 2019. Despite rigorous quality assurance processes, the RBA recognised the possibility of errors in the complex banknote production process and vowed to enhance protocols to prevent such mistakes in the future.
