Lego’s results from his first Dog Show at the Chintimini Kennel Club show in Albany, OR. He ended the weekend with 3 best of variety, 3 owner handled best of variety, 2 best of winners, 1 puppy best of variety, 7 group competitions, 15 NOHS points, and 2 points towards his Championship title.🏆 Even though he walked fine on a cement floor before this show, he decided cement was too slippery and just layed out flat like a pancake. It was like a game of lava where he would only walk on the mats and was being super careful not to get too close to the edges. This did not fare well to show his beautiful, natural gait and took him forever and a day to get around the group ring. I have never seen a dog slower than the Pekingese until now. His 2-1/2lb little legs don’t go very fast to begin with! The group winners had already been chosen before he ever got to the end of the last go around. I hesitated to put any pressure on his little neck to try and get his head up because above all else, I wanted the weekend to be a good experience for him. This is something we will work on here at home before the next show. We use a kindness lead, which has a bigger surface to go under the neck, but I am careful to not put pressure on his little trachea. I prefer to walk with more of a loose lead than to string my dogs up. He is a little charmer who shamelessly flirted with the judges and was happy to meet everyone and make friends with the other dogs. DAY 2 RESULTS: Lego got his first point today and showed his @ss off in groups!! He was amazing. Cha Cha didn’t get any points today, but did get a Group 2 in the Best Bred By competition. That competition was at the very end of the day after I had already finished taking video and had started on this so her group rosette didn’t make it in with the other ribbons shown. We will be back tomorrow for the final day of this show. Thank goodness our ring time isn’t until 11am…we are tired and need a full night’s sleep.
