I know its hard to watch, but please share this post to get the word out so we can end this inhumane practice! This animal abuse is not only legal, but celebrated in Texas. Every year, Sweetwater Texas hosts the rattlesnake roundup, where thousands of rattlesnakes are collected, tormented, and brutally killed in the name of fun. These snakes are skinned and displayed, and for a small fee, children can try their hand at stripping snake skins and add their bloody handprints to the event’s mural.  And if you thought that it couldn't get worse, they're destroying the environment in order to collect these snakes. Hunters will pour gasoline into their dens and collect them as they're trying to escape the noxious fumes. This not only hurts the snakes but other critical species in the area. Roundups like these are driving these snakes into extinction. The practice is extremely cruel, as snakes do in fact feel pain, and can live for quite a while after being beheaded. If this was a dog or a cat, this festival would be national news, but sady, until we get the word out, it will continue.
