TOURIST/RESORT JAMAICA VS. TRUE JAMAICA 😍 I would’ve never thought in a million years that I would opt out of staying at a resort and book an Airbnb with my two best-friends to get the ✨true✨ Jamaican experience — and, fast forward to now, I would do it in a heartbeat. This 15-sec video doesn’t even do true Jamaica justice fr— there’s so many videos I wish I would’ve crammed into this in order to showcase how incredible the country is. Within my 2x times of going to Jamaica, I had: 📌 Partied in the country, dancing with one cup filled with soup and alcohol in the other (and when I tell y’all — I was so confused as to why they were serving soup at a party 😂 but honestly the soup helped with the taste of the alcohol so I was happy that it was there lol) 📌 Went to a random street race (and it was my first one I ever went to in general, so it was cool to have that experience outside of U.S) 📌 Drove — and had my first experience driving on the left side of the road with the wheel on the right side of the car. Don’t get me wrong — Going to the tourist attractions was fun too! I loved going to the resort for the day, going to well-known clubs, and doing the excursions, but my trip wouldn’t have been as amazing if I would’ve stay on the resort the entire time and never said “YES” to exploring and doing things outside of what tourists do. DIML unemployed • Whew, can I tell y’all how nervous I was putting this up? I’ve been sitting on this video for a while, but wasn’t even sure if I was gonna press “Upload” on this one at first. All I’ve kept thinking was: Am I gonna get judged? Is this something that I should document? Should I keep this to myself? I still have those thoughts roaming inside my mind tbh. As you can tell, so much was changed within the past 30 days…. When I first recieved the news that I was getting laid off, I was scared. It took me by surprise because I was getting really good at my new role as a project manager, and was finally getting over that rough “learning curve” bump. However, after sitting for a sec and reflecting upon the job itself and what this actually meant — it didn’t take me long to realize that this was actually a blessing in disguise. This laid-off provides me the opportunity to not only press pause and catch up on MUCH-NEEDED rest, but I also have this newfound freedom to do what I want to do. Since July, I haven’t had able to devote time towards my passion projects and business ideas due to my full-time job. But now, I have the time to drive those out of the door and see what they can flourish into. Despite my nervousness, I’m starting this series for two reasons: 📌 To document my journey as I navigate through this time of ambiguity and unknownness. 📌 To be held accountable. I told myself that I want to become so successful in my upcoming ventures that I no longer have to work a 9-5. Now that it’s out there, I have no choice but to see it through. 📌 To inspire. If you’re in a similar situation as me, I’m putting this out here for you. Keep your faith alive and know that everything is going to work out in the era. Being laid off isn’t a death sentence. It isn’t the end of the world. It isn’t an everlasting phrase that we’ll need in forever. Embrace this time of ambiguity, develop a plan and take action but ALSO be sure to relax, explore and enjoy this period time. We GOT this! With that being said, I’m making the most out of this time and plan on doing everything I can to cultivate my dream life.
