For those of you who don’t know, my mom had me when she was 42. I’ve always been aware I’ve had older parents than other kids did, and as I grew older, and my dad passed away I learned that the time we have with our parents is so precious. Before going to med school I had to think hard and long about going through a seven year journey not knowing whether the only parent I have left will ever get to see me graduate. Today, my mom did get to see me graduate and that is something I’ll be eternally grateful for.
