Are you doing it wrong? These are really common areas where we go wrong. 1️⃣ Buying stuff to organize your stuff is the first and biggest mistake you can make. That's like buying a mini-van when you live alone. When you don't know what you will keep and what you'll discard why spend all that coin. In the end you most likely won't even use it. 2️⃣ Beware of advice that gives specific numbers on how much to discard or keep. They aren't the boss of you AND they don't know your lifestyle or how you want to live. That matters when it comes to advice on quantity. For example, if you got 10 kids, I would never suggest you buy one package of pasta at the store. That might hardly feed 2 people. So use your judgement. 3️⃣ One in, one out is a good rule of thumb if you've already reset your home and it's fully decluttered. It doesn't work in your favor when you already have a home full of clutter. Consumerism got in into this physical mess in the first place. 4️⃣ Later is a lie. And this applies to nearly every area of your life. I'll do the laundry later turns into days or weeks beyond what you know is acceptable. I'll use it later turns into piles of clutter stealing your every day joy. Later is a trap. Start getting aware of when you use later, because it's code for never. 5️⃣ Your home is not a storage unit so stop treating it like one. Why carry the inventory in your home instead of at the stores? By doing this the cost of housing the inventory becomes your responsibility instead of theirs.
