If you live in Ontario right now, you will know that we have had VERY few sunny days over the last six weeks. Is it just me or does it seem like a longer stretch than usual? I would be lying if I said it doesn’t affect me. Even living in such a beautiful home 🌞 Seasonal Affective Disorder is a real thing all, and it’s ok to feel stuck. Here are a few ways SAD may appear in your life: *feeling listless, sad or down most days *feeling sluggish or with low energy *not caring about your health, overeating or experiencing weight gain *difficulty concentrating *having a tough time sleeping Everyone is different but this is how I deal… 1. First, I focus on what I can control. Focusing on my real estate studies (it’s online learning) is giving me a sense of forward movement and accomplishment. And, small bits of forward movement feel good. 2. Gardening is my hobby. A wee bit tough at this time of year. Scouring websites, dreaming and planning (Pinterest anyone?) feeds my joy. Do something that feeds your joy every day. 3. Get outside for some fresh air. I am guilty of staying indoors when the weather is overcast but I know the fresh air always “does me good”. No one ever regrets getting fresh air. 4. Self care is increased. I go a bit more “next level” with self care and make sure that my bath has extra bubbles and a candle is always lit. Let’s help one another. What do you do to get through these long, dark days? #SAD #seasonalaffectivedisorder #january #longdays #selfcare #ontario #darkdays
