I get pushback every time I post about teaching words (specifically sight words). Maybe this will help! Memorizing whole words does not get kids reading. Think about it. Its impossible to memorize all the words in the English language. I whole-heartedly believe that the time spent on this in the primary grades is one of the reasons our kids in upper elementary (and beyond) are struggling to read.
