Not liking a law isn't justification for not following it. Could I have gotten away with it? Probably. But at the end of the day I care about the bigger picture. I follow the letter of the law because I care about the spirit of it. All it takes is one too many exceptions and we can wind up back where we started, so I refuse to contribute towards that.
