I got the silicone heart molds from @HomeGoods and froze them before frying. Below are the ingredients you’ll need to make the masa. After making masa and the picadillo you’ll spoon masa into the molds first ensuring that there it a well to place the picadillo in while having the side walls of the mold coated in the masa so it has a proper seal and the picadillo doesn’t leak out in the frying process. Then spoon in the picadillo and then spoon and smoot over the final masa layer. Freeze overnight. Pro tips: 1)once you remove the alcapurrias from the mold let it thaw a tiny bit for 15 minutes. 2) Although I filmed this frying it in a stainless steel pan, I do not recommend using that type of pan when you’re first trying this out. A nontoxic nonstick pan surface would be best so you avoid the masa from sticking to the pan and breaking up the whole alcapurria itself. I have learned how to use those stainless steel pans overtime and it can be frustrating at first. Enjoy! Ingredients needed: -5 to 6 green bananas/guineos verde -1 mid sized piece of white yautia (don’t use the purple variety!) -1/4 cup of aciete de achiote or 1/4 cup of avocado oil and 1 tablespoon of sazon -1/4 cup of sofrito -Salt to taste; I used about 2 tsp of kosher salt -Your preferred protein in picadillo form #alcapurrias
