@bandoleroscafe might just have me taking the crown away from Anepalco for best Chilaquiles in OC. 15059 Goldenwest St, Huntington Beach, CA 92647 This spot is super special - it started as a husband and wife team selling tacos and breakfast out of their backyard in 2019, and now they’re operating their very first brick and mortar. This is one of the ones where you can taste the love as the secret ingredient. They specialize in Mexican brunch, and have a gorgeous cafe de olla with freshly baked conchas to start off the meal. Their drinks are super pretty as well. I get a lot of questions from a lot of lovely people about what the “best” of items are in OC, and one of them tends to be chilaquiles. I usually say Anepalco, and they’re very good. Until I tried the chilaquiles from here. They have chilaquiles rojos or verdes. You’ve got buttered crispy chips, green tomatillo or guajillo salsa, crema, queso fresco, redo onion, avocado, radish, micro cilantro, beans and chorizo, and you can add asada, short rib, or chorizo. They’re plated stunningly, and they’re just so fresh with such rich savory flavors and the perfect pairing of heat and acid. You MUST order these. The wet burrito was fire, the molcajete is delicious. You can’t go wrong with anything. The banana french toast is literally made with banana bread, and is also presented beautifully. Everything I took a bite of was perfection. The staff is great, the environment is super friendly, and the food is shockingly fantastic. You have to bookmark this one. Or just go tomorrow.
