Serves 2 (12 -15 sticks at 20-22 cm (+-) depending on your final nozzle tip and preferred length) Difficulty – Easy Tools: 2x Piping bags (or reusables), 11mm-15mm star tip nozzle for churros, 6mm round tip for Nutella garnish, oil temp thermometer (not necessary but ideal), parchment paper. Recipe: - 17g sugar - 3g sea salt - 48g butter - 188g water - 1 egg - 113g flour - 1 tsp vanilla essence or sugar - 1-2 litter frying oil - Punnet of strawberries + touch sugar and/or seedless raspberry jam & whipped cream - ½ btl champagne (optional) - 3 roses (optional) - Small Jar of Nutella (you won't need all of it) - Sugar + Touch of Cinnamon sugar to coat - Icing sugar for garnish Steps to Sucess: Add water, sugar, butter, salt, and vanilla extract in a pot over medium-high heat. Once thoroughly melted and it starts to boil, add flour and whisk in vigorously. Continue cooking dough until it comes away from the pan. Take off the heat, and place the dough in a large bowl. Allow to cool until warm to touch. Add one egg and immediately whisk in until fully incorporated. Place into a piping bag and pipe onto a prepared baking sheet over a tray. Place in the freezer until it's semi-frozen (it starts almost to hold its shape as a stick as you pick it up). Fry at 350°F/176.667°C until golden brown. Once cooked, place over a rack over a tray to allow excess oil to drip off—coat in cinnamon sugar. Garnish with piped Nutella. Serve with strawberries, cream, and your choice of drink and flowers.
