[WIP, Restoration] A lot of you who have been here for a few years may remember this fella from all the way back in 2021! This little number has been considered “finished” several times over the years, all of which I eventually decided that it was missing something. I wasn’t sure until now but as the Beast (see previous posts) has been collected from my house, I thought I’d take a few hours to give this skulldog bust some well deserved TLC. (See before photo on last slide) 1. I started by removing the hair. This thing has been through every hair style and colour under the sun, but I’ve decided that it does not look good with an unkempt mop for a hairdo. I will not throw the old hair wefts away, they will be saved and used for the new hair. 2. I’ve given it a lick of new paint. The original sculpt & paint on this one was done before I knew how to paint rust properly. 3. A new eye (pink) has been fitted. The original eye socket on the right had a clockwork mechanical piece inside it, but unfortunately it broke at some point. It was a challenge to find an eye that looked good next to the glow in the dark one on the left but I chose this pink cabochon that’s the same size. I can’t wait to actually finish this sculpture after THREE Years! It has such a presence and deserves to become a spooky little wall piece like my other skull creature busts.
