This poor Lane Rhythm had failing finish and marker all over it that would not wash off. If you aren’t familiar with Lane, thr company is the King of vintage beautiful craftsmanship. Due to the value of this piece I knew it needed proper restoration. I spent hours on YouTube and in Facebook groups but got differing opinions. Here’s what I ended up doing: 1) Clean the piece with Dawn Dish soap and water 2) 220 grit sand areas with marker and anywhere else that needed it 3) Danish Oil to feed the wood 4) After 48 hours I applied toner to correct some areas with color. I used Mohawk toner in medium walnut 5) once fully cry, I applied 3 coats (sanding 800 grit between coats) of General Finishes Arm R Seal in Satin She turned out beautifully!
