On the weekend i hit what i can only describe as my peak post baby depression since having Phoebe 👇🏽 Everyone warns you about the early postpartum days. The bubble, when everything is just a blur. The emotional first week where your hormones are everywhere. Everyone also talks about the baby bubble, and soaking up every bit of the newborn phase. But now we are nearly out of the new born phase & creeping towards the end of the 4th trimester, you can’t believe how fast it’s gone. Your baby is still an incredible age where they are learning new skills, new smiles, recognising our faces, new things happening every day. but your struggling with every emotion still, there’s still no routine and your winging every day. you’re body is resembling a shrivelled up prune. you’re baby isn’t settling, and is having problems with colic/milk/feeding. i keep saying to myself ‘i should be enjoying all this’ but i’m not and it’s upsetting to admit. I’m in absolutely no flow. Some days i go for coffee with my makeup on, other days i can’t get out of my pyjamas, some days I’m happy and thinking ‘yeah i’m doing a damn good job’ other days I’m crying and thinking ‘i suck at this’ I’m so overwhelmed today i feel like I’m completely drowning. the mum guilt i have towards my eldest boys hits me hard. i’m not spending the time i used to with them at the moment and it hurts incredibly. If any of this resonates, i want you to know i’m right there with you. This, honestly, is the hardest part yet for me. this is me admitting i’m finding it hard, this is me sharing that it’s ok to not be ok after having a baby.
