Tyler Loudon of Texas shared a home office with his wife Emily Kraus who was a manger of mergers and acquisitions at British petroleum and was overseeing confidential internal discussions to acquire Travel Centers of America, the largest chain of truck stops in the USA. Tyler overheard this information and behind Emily's back spent their life savings and retirement funds - $1.8 million - on travel center stock which doubled in price after BP acquired them. unfortunately for Tyler this was insider trading, and when Emily asked her husband why she was being investigated by the securities and exchange commission, Tyler confessed. Emily promptly moved out and filed for divorce and even though she was cleared of all wrongdoing by British petroleum, she was fired anyway.
