We chatted to #Mayo Ladies Football legend Fiona McHale about her part in the latest #GPA Student First Report. Overall, 35% of the GPA’s male and female members are students.  967 of those contributed to this research which formed part of the GPA’s annual scholarship survey.  Four focus groups were also carried out with the information from the survey data teased out.  The key findings were as follows : 63% are regularly overwhelmed by their commitments 59% believe the communication between their academic department and the sport department is poor 27% are regularly missing class due to their sporting commitments 84% had to turn down jobs due to their sporting commitments 62% do not feel they have time for part-time work 32% are experiencing serious financial difficulty 84% feel playing college sport is important 32% are regularly torn between college and county commitments 62% say county managers cause most pressure during college #GAA #Camogie #LGFA #Students #IrishSport
